FLEXHYBAT is a multidisciplinary project aiming to decarbonise the energy sector by integrating renewable energies into the electrical grid. Through FLEXHYBAT, we explore the feasibility of hybridising hydropower units with batteries and its resulting improvement of ancillary services and Remaining Useful Life (RUL).

About the project

FLEXHYBAT involves the research fields of hydro-mechanics and electronics, as well as the control and electrical aspects of hydropower energy management and battery applications.

Given its complexity, the project is coordinated between Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and Universidad de Oviedo (UNIOV) and divided into two sub-projects, each led by research centres belonging to one of the universities.
